“Alyssa was a lifesaver for my wife’s labor and delivery. She met us in the middle of the night at the Birth Center and stayed with us all the way until delivery - more than 30 hours!!! Throughout the process she was so comforting, nurturing, and supremely knowledgeable about the labor process, positions for my wife to optimize the baby’s position (my child had a nonstandard asynclitic positioning), etc. Her kind and calm spirit kept my wife (and me) at ease throughout the difficult labor. Her attention to detail and poise are way more than I could have imagined, and I’m a physician and was completely blown away. Moreover, my newborn unfortunately had an insanely traumatic delivery and required post-delivery resuscitation and it was very nearly tragic. I will NEVER forget her soothing and uplifting presence and sentiments during this time of extreme angst and uncertainty. We consider her akin to family now. Thanks, Alyssa we cannot say enough good things about you, and will always hold you in our hearts as truly special. Look forward to continuing to work together.”

J.J. Andrick (second-time father and E.R. physician)

“My husband and I welcomed our first child during the COVID-19 pandemic with guidance and support from Alyssa. It was the best decision we made to have her join our birthing team.

From our first meeting, she knew I wanted to do a natural birth and helped my husband and I find the right support team for this plan. This included referring us to a hospital and midwives that more closely aligned with our needs, connecting me to a local chiropractor and acupuncturist, and providing feedback for good nutrition options during the pregnancy. She also helped us document our journey through photos. This type of support from the start was helpful because it made me feel less overwhelmed about how to find legitimate information and resources during my pregnancy.

As the due date of our baby approached, COVID restrictions started at the hospital. For example, my husband wasn't allowed to attend the prenatal appointments with me. Additionally, we learned Alyssa was not allowed to labor with us in the hospital due to new rules implemented by the hospital about 2 weeks before my due date. Also, the hospital added restrictions so I wouldn't be able to walk the hallways during labor, or have access to their bathtub. As new restrictions were added, Alyssa stayed in contact with us and provided us with questions we could ask our midwife during the prenatal visits. Even though it felt like COVID-19 was affecting all of our plans, I felt confident because Alyssa helped us navigate the options still available for our journey.

Despite all of these newly implemented rules, Alyssa worked with us to make sure I spent the least amount of time laboring in the hospital. She came to my house and labored with us until I was 8 cm dilated. She then escorted my husband and I to the hospital while providing support to me over the phone to help me with contractions.

Alyssa was calm, caring, knowledgeable, and hands on during the whole process. As I labored at home, she made sure I was hydrated, moving, and helped me implement the correct breathing methods. She also utilized massage that helped me work through the contractions. Finally, she helped my husband early in the labor journey by explaining different ways to support me with the contractions, including use of a TENS unit.

The experience with Alyssa as a doula helped me to realize how important doula support is during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. Alyssa has the ability to connect pregnant mamas to valuable resources and to use a variety of techniques to help mamas feel confident and focused during their labor journey. My goals were to have a healthy pregnancy, healthy baby, a shorter labor, avoid using medication, labor at home as long as possible, and to have ample support during this important moment in my life. Thanks to Alyssa's support, these goals were reached and I delivered a healthy baby girl that was 9 lbs 2 ounces, and 21" long!”

Alicia K (first-time mother during COVID)

“Alyssa is the real deal. No words can really explain how much she meant to us when we were having our second baby. Our little one came 6 weeks early. Alyssa was a phone call away, she dropped everything to help with our toddler at home and even insisted on staying the night with our daughter our first night in the NICU (this was such a huge relief). She was level-headed, available to us, generous, professional and the calm we needed as we navigated some of our darkest days. She cooked some amazing and nourishing meals for us and seemed to really think of all of the little details (the massage oil is incredible, by the way). I honestly didn’t know if a doula was something we would need, but our experience with Alyssa completely opened my eyes to the invaluable work of birth workers. I’m forever and endlessly grateful for her and her seriously vast array of offerings.”

— Second-time mother. Sibling Doula & Postpartum Support

“Words truly can't describe how amazing Alyssa is! I wouldn't have chosen anyone else to be by my side during pregnancy and my labor and postpartum! I knew when we got pregnant that I wanted a Doula at my birth because my first birth was traumatic and ended in an unnecessary cesarean. I knew I wanted to have a VBAC and knew I needed someone amazing to help me feel empowered and believe I could achieve the VBAC! At my first appointment with the Foothills Community Midwives, I asked who they recommend and they had a list I knew on the first phone call with Alyssa she was perfect! Alyssa was always so calm and collected in all situations. She helped educate me during my pregnancy in knowing how to understand birth better and to keep my drive and passion in having a VBAC strong! Whenever I texted or called she answered. She is an angel! During my labor, there were lots of discouraging obstacles and Alyssa educated us on how to make this labor go smoothly and calmly. When she got to my room I felt like I had every worry lifted off my shoulders and felt safe. She helped me position differently and helped me through each contraction. She will for sure be a part of the rest of our births for our family! I highly recommend Alyssa for anyone, if your first-time parents or if you're wanting a successful VBAC!!”

“Having the presence of Alyssa as our doula comes highly recommended and as a father figure, I consider her an absolute necessity.

Fathers come with their own unique set of challenges. Dominantly the protection and safety of their wife and newly born children. Because we (especially first-time) fathers find the hospital building, staff, and all the different types of doctors, specialist and their intricate knowledge a bit intimidating and almost overwhelming.

If I could describe in one word my greatest fear as a Father throughout the whole birthing process, it would be the word “Useless”. As a father I felt inadequate with medical terminology, medications, waivers, pros and cons of different options, the typical birthing hospital procedures let alone the special steps necessary when delivering Twins.

In general, information becomes a firehose effect. Soon, fathers become too exhausted to translate hospital language into lay-mans terms and we begin to become zombie like and numb towards who’s coming in and who’s going out and what the heck is happening and why...

This is the greatest strength of having a doula from my perspective as a father. The Strength & Confidence that Alyssa exudes gave me a second wind of strength. When terminology and processes seemed complex, she would break down the information into lay-mans terms so that I could follow. I can honestly say that with the assistance of Alyssa by our side never once did I feel uncertain or out of place, in any way...

Alyssa brings a calm to the storm. A wealth of experience knowledge and confidence in her craft unmatched.

Alyssa was my anchor, that ‘all was truly well in the world’, even when secretly I felt out of my element, inadequate, and at times, useless.

I AM a strong advocate that every birth deserves the guidance and support of a highly experienced doula. And my recommendation begins and ends with Alyssa. Alyssa should be given the highest access of entry into every space of the hospital appropriately, including the Operating Rooms (our babies had to be born in the operating room vaginally due to hospital protocol) when Twins are born to assist every father with a second wind of Strength, Confidence and Comfort in a Sea of masks.

My greatest Thanks & Love goes out to our family doula, Alyssa. She will always be a part of our family memories and is highly recommended to everyone we come in contact with that deserves her care.

Thank you for helping every father with keeping his family Healthy & Safe.”

First-time father of twins (vaginal delivery during COVID)

“When I first met Alyssa, I thought she would just be around for my delivery. I was very impressed with how thoughtful, supportive, compassionate, and readily available she was for me. She basically was around for anything I needed. She was there for me from beginning to the end, and then some.

Alyssa was willing to come out and see me when it wasn't so easy for me. She gave me great information on childbirth. Alyssa even taught me about things I didn't learn in the childbirth class I enrolled in at the hospital. I loved how she took the time with me and never made me feel rushed to answer all my questions whether by phone, text, or even email. She even went to tour the hospital with me, and gave me her insight on what to look for, and other possible options out there.

When the big day came, I was so grateful to have Alyssa next to me throughout my labor and delivery. Her calming presence and techniques kept me away from the epidural I wished to stay away from. She was my rock of support. She made sure to be that special friend that knew just how to make everything right for me. She applied acupressure, calmed me down during contractions, and reminded me to drink water when I didn't want anything going down my throat. She suggested I try different positions for laboring when all I wanted was to stand. I couldn't have done it without out her!

She took pictures of when the baby was born. A few days after I had the baby, she came out with food, diapers, and clothes and made sure I was ok and answered all my first-time mommy questions.  A week or so after I had the baby, she went out of her way to help me with a few things I needed that I couldn't easily do myself, which was so thoughtful.

I could never thank Alyssa enough for everything she did for me. She is truly an angel and helped me so much.”

Diana Robles (first-time mother)

“Alyssa was very attentive to my patient and anticipated her needs. She worked very well with me also and she has good communication skills.”

Carol W. (Labor and Delivery RN at Presbyterian St. Luke’s, Denver)

“Alyssa was professional and appropriate. She was able to spend time with my client when I could not.”

— Midwife at Presbyterian St. Luke’s, Denver

“Alyssa Megeath is an amazing and unique person. She adds creativity, excitement, enthusiasm, and joy to everything she does. She will give you one hundred percent. She will bring an incredibly thoughtful presence to your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care. I had the pleasure of her attentive care and dedication with our patients when she worked at our acupuncture clinic (Acupuncture Clinic of Boulder, Inc.). She will take the time to get to know you and make sure you have the birth experience you want.

She is also well-versed on evidenced based medicine. She will listen to you, find out your needs, and bring the information you need to feel comfortable in your birth process. Hire her, you will be very happy you did!”

Erin Pass (successful VBAC during covid)

“We used Alyssa as a sibling doula when we had our second child. As my husband and I are both transplants, we needed help to know that our first born was in good hands during L&D. Alyssa responded to us immediately and was at our home in an hour. She took great care of our son, and I didn't have to worry about him and could focus on baby #2. She even brought us a care package when we were all home!

She seems very passionate about what she does and was definitely a big help for our family!”

Mary P. (Mother of two)

“Alyssa is a wonderful person to be around and an amazing postpartum doula. She made the transition into having a newborn so much easier with my second baby, that I wish I had her with me after the first! I had some complications after delivery and couldn’t drive, and she was always there to take me to my appointments and comfort the little one while I spoke with the doctor. She makes delicious food, and would surprise me with yummy treats that made me feel special and gave me something to look forward to. Alyssa is also a fabulous resource if you find yourself in need of extra care and support. Thank you so much for everything you do!”

Clea M. (Postpartum client)

“Alyssa’s Prenatal Insurance Assistance has been invaluable to me! She has made herself available to answer any and all insurance questions I’ve had (and I’ve had a lot!) and has gone above and beyond to reach out to my insurance directly when I’ve felt too overwhelmed with information. She helped me figure out exactly who and what is in network with my plan, and exactly how to deal with any billing discrepancies that have arisen. She takes care to explain everything in great detail so that I fully understand what is going on, and I always feel a weight lifted when we finish talking. Dealing with insurance can be stressful, but Alyssa makes it so easy so you can fully focus on growing your babies!”

Ashley C. (First time mother of twins)

“As a second-time mama, I knew the value of having a great doula to support my journey. I am so glad that we found Alyssa. She was thorough, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and attentive. She carefully listened to my needs, then exceeded my expectations, over and over again! She really helped me move through my birth journey with strength and empowerment. We are so grateful for her support and services, and we very highly recommend her!”

Carolyn S. (Successful VBAC)

“My wife and I were very nervous about the delivery process because two of our friends lost their babies during delivery and another friend lost his wife the day after delivery. This is the reason why we sought the support of a doula. We interviewed several doulas, and Alyssa was by far the best. She is very knowledgeable about all the aspects of pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum, ranging from scientific knowledge and alternative medicine to emotional support and nutrition. Furthermore, when you see Alyssa doing her job, it is easy to see that she does it because it is her passion. After having our baby, my wife and I have discussed several times that we don’t know how we would have gone through the process without Alyssa. She devoted a lot of time to support us during the pregnancy, and she was crucial during delivery for us to have a better experience in many aspects, including taking care of us, supporting us emotionally, helping my wife deal with pain, making our room feel more like home, among many others. Alyssa is incredibly devoted to her vocation (because it doesn’t seem like just a job for her), and my wife and I don’t know how she is able to handle so much to be able to provide the amazing support we received.

Even if you feel like you can go through the whole process without the support of a doula, having one would for sure enhance the experience, so if you have the means to do so, we highly recommend it. If you decide to have a doula, there aren’t enough words for how much we recommend Alyssa! We are incredibly thankful for the service she provided, which we consider to have much more value than what she receives as financial remuneration, highlighting even more that she does it because she is passionate about supporting women during their pregnancies, deliveries, and postpartum period.”

— Nicolas Rodriguez Jeangros (first-time father)

We interviewed several Doulas for us, and Alyssa was by far the most experienced, qualified, and helpful. We needed someone who could be positive and caring, but also take charge when we weren't sure what to do as first time parents. She stayed all 12 hours of labor with us until our boy arrived! What's more, she went to appointments with us before, visited us postpartum with a meal, and gifted us a 2-week photography session! AMAZING!”

Uri Hoffman (first-time father)

“As a prenatal chiropractor in the community, I have worked with countless patients who have been blessed to have had Alyssa at their births! They all rave about how much she impacted their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience. It is so clear the deep impact she makes on everyone!

I know Alyssa as a colleague and see her on the back end of things (aka: not during births and in between postpartum meal prep) and I see the dedication she has for her clients . She goes far beyond “above and beyond” for her clients. I am continuously amazed at the love and support she gives mothers and families on a daily basis. I feel blessed to know her and even more blessed to be able to have a quality resource for my pregnant and postpartum patients.

She provides unbelievably nutritious and healing meals due to her Ayurvedic training and now even more postpartum healing options with her Ayurvedic bodywork. She strives daily to learn more to be able to support her clients as much as she can and will resource out when she knows clients need more for their care. I highly recommend Alyssa to be a part of your birth and postpartum team.”

Nichelle Gurule (Prenatal and Postnatal Chiropractor/Owner and Founder of Gaia Health)

“I am so grateful for Alyssa's healing hands! She was an instrumental person in my postpartum recovery. I had a very premature baby and was living at the NICU for many weeks. She made me the most amazing lactation muffins that literally saved me. She also made my husband and I several beautiful and delicious Ayurvedic meals. She delivered these to my home and the hospital with surprise flowers, nursing tea, and her own plates and cutlery. Her warm heart, delicious food, and prompt response/service brought so much healing, nurturance, and ease during a very difficult time in my life.

Liza Miller (NICU first-time mother)

As a first-time mom pregnant with twins in the midst of the global COVID-19 pandemic, ALYSSA flew into my life as a literal ANGEL OF BIRTH.

Already forced to surrender my dream of a natural home birth due to Colorado midwife laws, I was anxious and disappointed when I was told I’d have to leave the labor room and give birth in the operating room, as is required for twins. When Coronavirus restrictions were implemented at my hospital, I was told my mom would no longer be admitted in addition to my husband as was planned so she could stay with twin A if she needed to leave the operating room. I felt the choices I did have were slowly being taken away.

Thankfully, my hospital is still allowing doulas to attend births. Alyssa’s calm, caring, and diligent PRESENCE made all the difference in the outcome of my birth. Without her, I’m certain my long labor would have ended in an emergency c-section. Instead, I had a vaginal delivery of healthy twins each over 7 pounds.

Alyssa’s professionalism in addition to her open heart and eternal optimism steadied my mind and emotions in the weeks leading up to my birth. The resources and support she provided turned my doubt and uncertainty to confidence in my preparedness. She worked with the local community to make sure I had everything I needed for two babies to enter our home and life. She educated my husband and me via video chat during quarantine so we knew exactly what to expect. And she helped make connections with other practitioners, a placenta encapsulation specialist, and other moms when we needed supplemental donor milk in the days after birth.

When I went into labor, she serenely coached me for hours and hours while empowering me to draw upon my inner strength and follow the birth plan she’d assisted us in preparing. In the end, she was unable to attend to us in the operating room, but she was a strong yet respectful advocate for all of our birth wishes with the hospital staff up to the point we rolled out the labor room door.

I mean it from the bottom of my heart when I say I would have given up so many times without her by my side. She guided me through positions, exercises, and mental and emotional balancing while contracting and pushing to bring me comfort while encouraging the progression of my labor. I don’t know what my husband and I would have done alone. When issues arose with medications, treatments, and the suggested direction of the medical staff, I was able to look to her for a simple explanation so I could make informed choices. To top it off, she had a special bag of comfort items that she offered at tipping points to encourage me to stay strong and focused.

Alyssa has a gift. She’s living her life mission in service to mamas. You would be so blessed to have her as your doula no matter how many times you’ve given birth, especially with all that is happening in the world with COVID and its impact on medical care.

Thanks to my birth experience with Alyssa, I will ever advocate that every woman deserves a doula.

Thank you, Alyssa. Afa and I are so grateful for all you’ve done for us. We will always remember the gift of your loving service in the story of the birth of our beautiful babies.”

Stacia Grace (Mother of twins — vaginal delivery)

“During a time of unpredictability with a worldwide pandemic, Alyssa was invaluable. Leading up to the birth much worry came to surface with every appointment and update with the spread of Covid-19. Alyssa was my backbone of support, knowledge, and reassurance that I could still have the safe birth I had been planning for 9 months. Leading up to labor with FaceTime calls and endless text messages I was as prepared as I could be for labor. I could never thank Alyssa enough for how she helped me labor at home. As expected for first time mothers I labored at home for 48 hours+ and I am so very glad I had her there. During points of weakness and doubt within myself Alyssa was always by my side to get me through with her resources and knowledge. I would have most certainly given up on myself and went to the hospital too early and asked for medication. Leading to me most likely not following my dream of a natural, unmedicated birth. However, I am so very happy to say in the end and many hours later I successfully gave birth to our little one 100% naturally and unmedicated, just as I had always hoped. Unfortunately, due to the restrictions given with the COVID-19 virus Alyssa was not able to assist us in the labor and delivery room. At first I was worried but there was no need as she got me through the roughest part and once arriving I was 7 cm and ready to push. As much as I would have loved to have her with my husband and I, Alyssa had a prepared for the final step. Overall, I would recommend Alyssa to any mother delivering no matter the circumstance. Her love, support and knowledge are and continue to be priceless as I continue at home recovering.”

— First-time mother birthing during COVID hospital restrictions

“Alyssa was an amazing resource and great support person during the end of my pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

She came over to our house a couple times before the birth to get to know me and my husband and give us useful information. She also took some beautiful maternity photos of us at a nearby lake. When I went into labor, she was a calming voice and helped us manage early contractions and drove with us to the birthing center. Then, she stayed with us over 9 hours overnight at the birthing center and made my birth experience much more pleasant and took some lovely birth photographs.

When I went back for my follow-up visit with the birth center midwife, she mentioned that Alyssa was one of the best doulas she had seen in all of the many births she had been a part of.

Thanks Alyssa!”

Sierra Crosby (first-time mother — birthing center)

A 5-star google review does not do my experience with Alyssa justice. Hire her!! I moved to Boulder at 32 weeks pregnant at the height of the pandemic so needless to say, stress levels were high in finding the perfect person to support me during my labor. I felt an instant connection with her because of her calming and easy going energy combined with her extensive knowledge of pregnancy, birthing, post- partum and most importantly, the hospital systems here in the Boulder area. When you hire her, you're not just accessing a doula, you have her wisdom and connections to Chiropractors, Massage Therapists, Acupuncture, Pelvic Floor PT and any other person or service you would need during pregnancy and postpartum.

Did I mention she's an incredible Ayurvedic chef? Her preparation support leading up to the birth was comprehensive, but not overwhelming and she was truly my coach through my labor and delivery. I had a beautiful, straightforward natural birth (no tearing even!) and a lot of that was credited to her support during labor. After I gave birth, when I was in newborn heaven, she would leave healing treats and gifts at our doorstep like a little postpartum fairy. When I needed to be on an important Zoom call several weeks after giving birth, she even came over to spend time with our 2- year old so I could just focus on the baby and the Zoom call. I had a doula with my first child and nothing compares to the care and service Alyssa provides. Doulas are an essential part of the birth story and I'm so grateful she was a part of mine.”
