Alyssa A. Megeath
DONA International Trained Doula
ayurved sadhana trained postpartum doula
Alyssa Megeath is a DONA International Trained birth doula, sibling doula, and postpartum doula. She is also a childbirth educator, insurance advocate, and on-call nanny serving families in the Boulder County and Denver areas. Within the medical field, she has worked in patient education and outcomes for six years. Also, Alyssa has served families as a nanny for over a decade and is infant CPR certified (American Red Cross). Alyssa has a B.A. in Biology with a concentration in pre-medicine from Regis College in Weston, MA and has completed various human growth and development courses. She is continuing her education with ongoing professional training within the birthing community.
While working in an acupuncture clinic that has a strong focus on supporting women and families through the birthing experience (from preparing to get pregnant to postnatal care), Alyssa became passionate about working with expecting parents. During this time, she and her husband started their own family, and she had the opportunity to experience how she felt supported and also areas where improvement could be made. The experience has given her strong convictions on how to advocate for and educate all women and families through the birth process. Birth can be an incredibly empowering experience, and having a coach through the process can provide confidence, knowledge, and support.
Alyssa has many passions in her life. In addition to her strong involvement within the medical community, she has been an instructor within the rock climbing industry. Her knowledge of health and fitness allows her to offer expertise in nutrition and physical health to feel good during pregnancy, have energy for a great labor and delivery, and recover quickly during the postpartum time.
Unlike other doulas, Alyssa has an in-depth understanding of medical insurance and has worked in medical billing. She can help families navigate prenatal medical billing to make sure your maximum insurance benefit is utilized. Alyssa strongly believes that there should be a doula for every woman that wants one.
During Alyssa’s free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, son, and dog, and rock climbing both indoors and outdoors. She is also an avid photographer. Alyssa loves helping people reach their full potential. She has organized a Mama/Mama-To-Be Climbing Meet Up held every Tuesday at 10:15 am at EVO Rock + Fitness Louisville.
