Proud Partner of Balanced Beginnings Doulas

Alyssa Megeath is a DONA International Trained birth doula, sibling doula, and postpartum doula. She is also a childbirth educator, insurance advocate, and on-call nanny serving families in the Boulder County and Denver areas. Within the medical field, she has worked in patient education and outcomes for six years. Also, Alyssa has served families as a nanny for over a decade and is infant CPR certified (American Red Cross). Alyssa has a B.A. in Biology with a concentration in pre-medicine from Regis College in Weston, MA and has completed various human growth and development courses. She is continuing her education with ongoing professional training within the birthing community.

While working in an acupuncture clinic that has a strong focus on supporting women and families through the birthing experience (from preparing to get pregnant to postnatal care), Alyssa became passionate about working with expecting parents. During this time, she and her husband started their own family, and she had the opportunity to experience how she felt supported and also areas where improvement could be made. The experience has given her strong convictions on how to advocate for and educate all women and families through the birth process. Birth can be an incredibly empowering experience, and having a coach through the process can provide confidence, knowledge, and support.

Alyssa has many passions in her life. In addition to her strong involvement within the medical community, she has been an instructor within the rock climbing industry. Her knowledge of health and fitness allows her to offer expertise in nutrition and physical health to feel good during pregnancy, have energy for a great labor and delivery, and recover quickly during the postpartum time.

Unlike other doulas, Alyssa has an in-depth understanding of medical insurance and has worked in medical billing. She can help families navigate prenatal medical billing to make sure your maximum insurance benefit is utilized. Alyssa strongly believes that there should be a doula for every woman that wants one.

During Alyssa’s free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, son, and dog, and rock climbing both indoors and outdoors. She is also an avid photographer. Alyssa loves helping people reach their full potential. She has organized a Mama/Mama-To-Be Climbing Meet Up held every Tuesday at 10:15 am at EVO Rock + Fitness Louisville.

Photo: Alyssa is passionate about bringing together community, especially families and Mothers. As an avid rock climber and fitness instructor, she saw that there was a need for a group that was open to Mothers with children of all ages, who enjoy being active within the outdoors. Her hope is to be able to incorporate fitness and problem solving while building long-lasting relationships at a local Meet Up that she has organized.

What is a "Mother Blessing" or "Blessingway"? A celebration of life, love, pregnancy, motherhood, and the encouragement of deepening community roots. This allows the Mother to become further empowered while entering the sacred rite of passage into Motherhood. Unlike a traditional baby shower, the focus of this day is on the Mother and the importance of nurturing all expecting parents and seasoned mothers within our community. The presence of the Mother's close community of loved ones is the greatest gift, which will instill both strength and confidence.

Photo: Alyssa is pictured here with her client, a first time mother. Alyssa is passionate about making sure all family members transition smoothly into home life and can provide you or someone you may know with resources in the community (including educational resources, emotional support, assistance with other children, and donations: infant clothes, bottles, diapers, etc.). If you know someone who may need assistance, please do not hesitate to pass Alyssa's information along. As a birth doula, Alyssa remains with you during your entire labor and helps you and your family get settled into your room in the postpartum unit (if birthing within the hospital setting). Lastly, each client she works with receives a postpartum care package full of helpful items that encourage healing.
